Biography
Julia Calfee is an artist working with photography, sound, and the written word. Her projects unfold over years of close proximity — months living beneath the Länta glacier in the Swiss Alps, four years inside the Chelsea Hotel, five years travelling through Mongolia on horseback.
Each body of work takes several forms: an art book, a vinyl recording, a film. The versions are not documentation of one another; they are separate doors into the same room. Her books are published by Kehrer Verlag and powerHouse Books, designed by Pentagram Berlin.
